At Stellar, we believe your financial journey is deeply personal. We built Stellar to be a safe, private, and nurturing space for beauty professionals to manage their income, expenses, and dreams. This Privacy Policy explains how we protect your information, what little data we do collect, and how we ensure you remain in complete control.

1. Our Core Privacy Promise

  • Your Data Stays on Your Device: We use a local-first architecture. Your income, expenses, and goals are stored directly on your phone, not on our servers.
  • No Account Required: You don't need to provide an email address, phone number, or create a password to use Stellar.
  • Bank-Grade Encryption: All your financial data is protected with AES-256 encryption on your device.
  • You Are the Only Key: You can lock the app using your device's biometric authentication (Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint).

2. Information We Collect and How We Use It

Because Stellar is designed to be local-first, we collect very little information about you.

A. Financial Data (Stored Locally)

All your financial entries—including commission splits, tips, booth rent, and savings goals—are stored locally on your device using an encrypted database. We do not have access to this data.

B. Polaris AI Insights

When you use Polaris, our AI-assisted advisor, the app sends strictly anonymized, aggregated numbers to our AI processing layer to generate your personalized insights and retirement recommendations.

  • We never send your name, personal identifiers, or raw bank details.
  • The AI only sees patterns (e.g., income volatility, savings pace) to provide helpful, caring guidance.

C. Anonymous Usage Analytics

To help us improve Stellar, we collect basic, anonymous usage data (such as which features are used most often or if the app crashes).

  • This data cannot be linked back to you.
  • You can opt out of anonymous analytics at any time in the app settings.

3. Backups and Data Portability

You have complete ownership of your data.

  • Local Backups: You can export your entire journal as an encrypted .stellar file at any time.
  • Optional Cloud Sync: If you choose to back up your data to your personal cloud storage (like iCloud or Google Drive), the data remains fully encrypted. We do not have the keys to decrypt your backups.

4. Third-Party Services

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third-party marketers or advertisers.

  • AI Processing: We use secure, trusted LLM providers to power Polaris. As mentioned, all data sent for analysis is completely anonymized and stripped of personal identifiers.
  • No Tracking for Ads: We do not use third-party advertising trackers in our app.

5. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA Compliance)

We respect your privacy rights, regardless of where you live. Because we do not store your personal financial data on our servers, there is no personal data for us to delete on our end.

  • To delete your data: Simply delete the Stellar app from your device. This will permanently erase your local encrypted database.
  • To export your data: Use the built-in export feature to save your records as a CSV file for tax preparation or personal backup.

6. Children's Privacy

Stellar is intended for working professionals and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

If we ever make changes to how we handle privacy, we will update this policy and notify you within the app. We will never change our core promise: your financial data belongs to you.
